Filomena obtained her Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Social Work through the University of Toronto. She is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Filomena discovered her passion for working with individuals impacted by eating disorders and co-morbid mental health issues through her academic and professional experiences. This desire stemmed from her research as an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto in which she focused on social comparisons in relation to body image and the onset of eating disorders. Throughout her clinical experiences, she has worked with a diverse range of clients in hospital and community settings. Filomena is also comfortable working with a variety of mental illnesses given the high level of co-morbidity in eating disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety, personality disorders, and/or addictions. Filomena utilizes a holistic and strengths-based approach to help individuals explore their inner strengths and resources to rediscover their authentic self. She provides a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to express their thoughts and feelings to best support them in their journey towards meaningful change.
